I used to hunt, used to hunt animals and the worst kind of hunter, the one that did it for fun, not even for food. And I never hunted again, after I was in Iraq. I knew what it was like to be hunted as a person. The difference was I had a weapon to fight back with, animals did not.” In 2019, Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) presented Damien Mander (vegan) the Shining World Compassion and Hero Award, plus a US$50,000 contribution toward his noble mission to save animal-people.
