Being vegan means you can sleep with a clear conscience and that will contribute to your peace of mind. However, some people still have other parts of their lives that interfere with the ever so important habit of good sleep, so today, I'd like to offer a tip to help. Your body will naturally start to wind down at the same time each night, so it's crucial to strive to maintain a regular evening schedule. Melatonin is a primary sleep hormone and is produced in the pineal gland when we are in darkened environments. Melatonin levels are impacted by external light, so I advise lowering light sources toward bedtime. This also means avoiding gadgets before bed such as TVs, phones, and tablets. Another suggestion is to try relaxation techniques such as PMR (progression muscle relaxation). Many people find just a few minutes of PMR before bedtime can aid in helping them nod off more quickly. This approach also helps with anxiety because you are putting more attention on the muscles than on distracting thoughts. PMR can be done by closing your eyes, concentrating on a specific body area, tensing the muscle group there, holding for 3-5 seconds, and then relaxing the area. Progressively move through all of the muscle groups if you have time, or those with the most tension for a quick release. I hope these simple tips help you get a more relaxing and revitalizing sleep.

Now, it’s time to enter the chuckle auditorium with the joke of the day. It’s entitled “Who Should Jump?”

Charlene, holding a magazine, approaches her co-worker, Albert, and asks:

“Do you know the answer to this magazine’s question-and-answer contest, Albert?”
